celebrating the life of a showgirl with taylor swift’s soft chai sugar cookies 🧡✨ chai sugar cookies made with chai sugar cookie, cardamom sugar, icing, & sparkly orange edible glitter

makes about 12 chai sugar cookies

ingredients

  • chai sugar cookies

    • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

    • 1 large egg, room temperature

    • 2 tsps vanilla extract

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour

    • 1/2 tsp baking soda

    • 1/4 tsp kosher salt

    • 1 chai tea bag

  • extra granulated sugar, to roll dough balls

  • icing

    • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

    • a couple tbsps of whole milk

  • toppings

    • orange edible glitter

  • baking sheet with parchment paper

  • wire rack

  • medium mixing bowl

steps

  1. make the chai sugar cookie dough: in a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, & 1/2 cup granulated sugar with a hand mixer

  2. add in 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 large egg, & 2 tsps vanilla extract, beat to combine

  3. sift in 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp kosher salt, & 1 chai tea bag. stir with spatula to combine. cover and chill for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator

  4. bake the chai sugar cookie dough: preheat oven to 350f

  5. using a cookie scoop (about 1-2 tbsps), portion out the dough and roll into balls. roll each dough ball in extra granulated sugar. evenly place dough balls on prepared baking sheet

  6. bake for 9-12 minutes in the oven until slightly golden brown. let cool slightly on the baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely

  7. make the icing: in a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar & a couple tbsps of whole milk

  8. assemble the chai sugar cookies: cover cooled chai sugar cookies with icing. sprinkle some orange edible glitter

  9. enjoy!
